Lagos - The talking is over in the presidential
election campaign, as voters go to the polls on
Saturday. But here are five key quotes from the
build-up:
"Goodwork in progress... Vote goodwork... vote
Goodluck."

Goodluck Jonathan
The sitting president has been keen to portray
himself as a continuity candidate, pleading for four

But the main opposition All Progressives Congress
(APC) has claimed his time in office has been a
failure, with corruption rampant, insecurity rife and
the economy mismanaged.
"Before you is a former military ruler and a
converted democrat who is ready to operate under
democratic norms and is subjecting himself to the
rigours of democratic elections for the fourth time."
- APC candidate Muhammadu Buhari
The former army general has been keen to play up
his democratic credentials in the face of repeated
attacks from the ruling party about his time as head
of a military government in the 1980s.
Jonathan's Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has
claimed that the 72-year-old is yesterday's man
and his no-nonsense approach to corruption and
indiscipline would mean dictatorship by other
means.
"If the security of personnel, voters, election
observers and election material cannot be
guaranteed, the lives of innocent young men and
women and the prospect of free, fair and credible
elections will be greatly jeopardised."
- Attahiru Jega, chairman of the Independent
National Electoral Commission (INEC)
The INEC boss delayed voting by six weeks from
February 14 after warnings that soldiers would not
be able to provide security nationwide.

The postponement was seen by some as a pretext
for Jonathan to claw back ground from Buhari in the
campaign but has also seen a series of claimed
military successes against Boko Haram in the
northeast.
"This election will not be held even if we are dead.
Even if we are not alive, Allah will never allow you
to do it."
- Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau
The elusive head of the Islamist militant group
vowed to disrupt the elections, calling the vote "un-
Islamic".
A wave of suicide attacks and bombings at "soft"
targets such as markets and bus stations followed,
raising fears of the safety of voters on polling day.
"Any person who incites or engages in acts of
violence in the context of the upcoming elections or
otherwise -- including by ordering, inciting,
encouraging or contributing to the commission of
crimes that fall within ICC's jurisdiction -- is liable
to prosecution; either by Nigerian Courts or by the
ICC."
- Fatou Bensouda, chief prosecutor of the
International Criminal Court (ICC)
The ICC has left Nigerians in no doubt as to the
possible consequences of serious election-related
violence
