Nigeria's senior national team goalkeeper Vincent
Enyeama believes the current Super Eagles will
make the country proud if given enough time to not
minding the 1-0 defeat to Uganda on Wednesday.
Enyeama, who earned his 100th international cap
against the Cranes said his centurion celebration in
the colours of the Super Eagles will be unforgettable
remembering the defeat in his home state.
"This is a team that almost put Ghana out of Nations
Cup. This is a team that played against us that just
had 45 minutes training session. Its not going to be
easy," Enyeama told media.
"I didn't recognise most of the players I was playing
against. We need time. I will always be ready to play
as long as my oga (coaches) continues to invite me.
Really, there is going to be a time to call it off.
"First of all, I'm so grateful to the reception the
coach gave me for the 100th official game. It is
always disappointing to lose but what can we do,
but the good thing is that it is a training game.
"I mean there is no other better avenue or no better
way that makes it more beautiful than. When you
put it on the wall that you played your 100
international cap. I love this game. It such an
amazing story on compact discs (100 caps) when I
watch it with my kids - the funny thing is that I lost.
I'm grateful to you guys (media).
The 32-year-old blamed the defeat on insufficient
preparation, lack of cohesion, flight fatigue as well
as limited playing time together urging Nigerians to
allow the team to mature together.
"Though prestige and pride at stake, but its only a
training game. You don't pick anything from training
game only to make the team to together.
"80-90 percent of the team are people just getting
their first cap. You could see a lot of situations in
the pitch that seem we lost ideas and with one
training session, six to eight hours flight.
"I still remember before we won the Nations Cup
that nobody gave us the chance. I think i'm one of
those people who believe Nigeria will win and I said
I would dance naked, I didn't do because my wife
and pastor didn't want me to do it.
"So it going to be a lot of chiseling, you going to
plaster, cut off places. That the problem, we are
always building. When he has 27 players and he is
going to pick 11 from one training session," he
concluded.
